Special news for this coming summer's Cherokee Boys
As new members of our Senior Camp, the program "keeps getting better." While groups remain small and personal, Cherokee Boys receive more advanced swimming and sports instruction, participate in choice activities that allow campers to focus on specific sports or arts, as well as new and exciting specialty activities and special events.

SWIMMING AT CAMP HILLARD
Cherokee boys swim twice a day in our 2 Olympic-size senior camp pools.
Pool # 6 is a 25-meter long pool that is 3 1/2 feet in the shallow end and 9 feet in the deep end and includes a 3/4-meter diving board.
Pool # 7 is a 25-yard pool which is 3 feet to 5 feet deep. This state of the art swim facility allows our older campers to continue to improve and be challenged at all swimming levels.
The pool complex also is highlighted by our 135 foot long Water Park Slide!
Our fully certified swim staff provides Cherokee boys with an opportunity to develop individual skills in a challenging, safe, and supportive environment.
Our swim program also features:
• 40-minute swim lessons each morning.
• Small Camp Hillard Aquatics Groups organized by ability. All groups are taught by certified instructors.
• Instruction in all major strokes, diving, deep-water techniques and water safety.
Campers can also earn American Red Cross swim cards. Lots of encouragement and practice is provided throughout the summer to help you meet this challenge.
Afternoon Free swim is a highlight of the day!
• 40-minute long periods.
• Free swim is full of fun, including the water park slide, boat races, swim races, water polo, water basketball, and our special swim events such as our crazy dives contest and annual swim races.
• Proper safety and supervision at all times.
• Towels are provided by Camp for all swim periods.
CHEROKEE SPORTS PROGRAM is Fantastic!
As a Cherokee, you will get a chance to further develop all of your sports skills, participate in more advanced sports leagues, clinics and tournaments. highlighted by Sports Choice, Archery and Box Lacrosse.
Superb sports instruction in basketball, baseball, flag football, soccer, street hockey, lacrosse and tennis, with a focus on the fundamental skills. Larger fields, higher baskets, and larger soccer balls and basketballs are utilized. Extra tennis and golf are available through the weekly elective program, Individual Activity Choice.
Our emphasis is always on developing athletic skills, learning, and having fun.
In addition to game play in all sports, weekly instruction provided by some of the finest coaches in the area.
Basketball instruction focusing on the skills of shooting, passing, dribbling, man to man and zone defenses, triple threat, including full court games.
Weekly baseball clinics to develop the fundamentals of the game. Campers have the opportunity to choose our batting cages and pitching stations complete with pitcher’s mounds and pitching targets that register balls, strikes and speed!
Soccer clinics to learn the basics of shooting, passing, receiving, trapping, and game strategy.
Lacrosse - Using specially designed training sticks, balls and safety equipment, campers learn the fundamental skills of the game including shooting, passing, receiving, cradling, and basic offensive and defensive strategy. Cherokees also play Box Lacrosse, which uses more advanced sticks, helmets and gloves.

SPORTS LEAGUES
Game play is highlighted by weekly sports leagues.
As Cherokee boys, more Sports League games are added to the program. Sports leagues provide lots of challenge and fun as well as developing skills, good sportsmanship and teamwork. Cherokee boys play street hockey, soccer, walled soccer, baseball, basketball, flag football and box lacrosse. The leagues are highlighted by the end of the summer playoffs.
CHOICE PERIODS
Cherokee Boys Choice Activities - Sports or Arts - you make the choice!
Sports Choice or Arts Club - Campers can choose either specific sports or arts depending on their interests.
Sports Choice allows campers to specialize in a specific core sport. Sports choices include baseball, basketball, soccer, street hockey, flag football, tennis, and lacrosse. A great choice for those boys who want more advanced instruction, challenge and skill development. Campers can also choose Outdoor Adventure (Climbing Wall, Zip Line and Flying Squirrel).
Arts club and hobby choice include such favorites as clay projects, wood crafts, beads, cartooning, music, nature, science, drawing, painting, drumming, theater workshops, chess and checkers.
Individual Activity Choice - This popular Senior Camp program provides campers with an opportunity to choose an activity they would like to concentrate on. The program offers many choices so that campers can take part in different activities. The more popular choices include:

THEATER CLUB
Cherokee boys can choose to participate in theater club.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS
• Expanded Tennis Program
Cherokee boys enjoy tennis as part of their weekly schedule and can choose advanced tennis during Individual Activity Choice and extra tennis periods. Campers can also participate in our annual end of summer Cherokee tennis challenge.
• Optional off-site Horseback Riding Program
This program allows campers to get more advanced and formal riding instruction at Twin Lake Farms in Bronxville. The program is for riders of all levels. An extra fee is required for this program.
• Golf Skills Center
The Golf Skills Center provides campers with the opportunity to learn golf skills in a fun and successful way. This facility incorporates practice putting greens to teach putting skills, a sand trap, a 3 station golf driving range and a 6 station SNAG range. The golf skills center utilizes a program called SNAG Golf (Starting New At Golf), a program that introduces golfers to the fundamentals of driving, pitching and chipping skills. SNAG Golf utilizes special equipment to correctly teach the game of golf in a way that's easier for less experienced players. The driving range allows more experienced campers to drive real golf balls with real clubs. This program is offered during individual activity choice.
CHEROKEES SPECIAL EVENTS PREVIEW 2025
Each summer Camp Hillard features both annual and new special events. Special Events such as the Festival of Fun, the Camp Carnival, Marshmallow and SMores Roasts, a special senior camp event, Capture the Flag, and so much more!
